What is Machine Vision & Integration ?

Machine Vision is a combination of technologies. Machine Vision unifies video cameras, optics, sensors, printers, and material handling equipment to perform inspections on a myriad of products.  When possible, products are inspected during the manufacturing process making it possible to reduce waste, improve productivity, and deliver only products that meet the specifications desired. The following benefits can be realized when using Machine Vision.

·        Prevents defective products from reaching the customer

·        Provides a vehicle for on-line Statistical Process Control ( SPC )

·        Improves productivity and quality by removing subjectivity

·        Relieves the machine operator of  repetitive inspection tasks allowing them to focus on machine operation

An Integrator accomplishes implementation of this equipment. Integrators provide the expertise required to make the particular application work. A good integrator has the savvy necessary to understand your application and the components necessary to make the application work. Most companies in the machine vision arena make only a component or two which they supply to integrators. Only a few machine vision manufacturers have the knowledge and desire to build a turnkey system for the end user. In most cases, successful integrators like InoSys, Inc build turnkey systems.

The Integrator Advantage includes:

·        Broader knowledge of products available from multiple vision sources

·        Ability to select the right product for a specific application

·        Customized solutions tuned to the specific industry and client

The image acquisition system, built by the integrator, can be married to existing material handling equipment to provide object orientation and faulty part rejection. In addition, the image acquisition system can provide links to existing plant Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and Management Information Systems (MIS). Therefore vision systems can also keep plant personnel aware of real time production status.

In summary, the machine vision solution, provided by your integrator, is a custom designed system which operates at the heart of the manufacturing process and encompasses most manufacturing disciplines. Successful integration companies, like InoSys, Inc., provide turnkey systems to clients to fulfill their inspection, process control  and measurement needs.

Sincerely,
